CORPUS TERRAE. Unique artist's Book.
2024
Corpus Terrae binds drawings of landscapes torn from the earth into a single volume. Twenty-six original plates are made of materials, marks, and gestures, layered like geologies of non-functional rationality that interpenetrate. The "geological" composition changes in each plate, allowing the various layers to blend or repel each other, making it possible for surfaces containing fragments of adjacent materialities to peel within the drawing's thickness.
Antonio Scarponi's exploration of drawing techniques and intentions transcends the traditional. His drawing is not just a representation but a manifestation of a wandering mind, a journey into the paper, a bending of the curves of illusions to reveal the realm of possibilities. Like a plough tearing through the earth's mantle, his drawings are a desecration of the plane, a gaze that uncovers an imagined space beyond the support. Scarponi's innovative approach to drawing is a testament to his creativity and originality, inspiring us to think beyond the conventional.
