This project renders legible the epistemic actions articulated as DEMA in Epistemic Design.
The Innocent Chair and Other Stories was initially conceived as a pavilion for the reactivation of land confiscated from the mafia in the south of Italy. After its first presentation in Thun, at the Konzepthaus Laboratorium gallery, the project was later presented at Milano Design Week.
For the Milan installation, an abandoned cellar was activated as a place of fantasies and memories. The work consists of a composition of ropes, bare wood, suspended chairs, and shadows. The project aims to reclaim the relational nature of objects, here reduced to a minimum and presented as suspended architectural bodies.
Expose designates a mode of making visible: the project is presented as a spatial proposition where meaning emerges through form, material relations, and placement.
Activate designates a situated enabling: the work operates by activating an existing context (a site, a spatial condition, a social setting), allowing encounters and narratives to occur.
