IMPACT HUB ZURICH.

Year: 2010
Project Type: Interior Architecture
Location: Zurich
Commissioned by: Impact Hub Zurich
Author: Antonio Scarponi, Stefano Massa

The Impact Hub Zurich is a co-working space that belongs to a worldwide network dedicated to social innovation and entrepreneurship. The project consists of the interior design of two iconic arches located under a viaduct, each hosting a different functional program: co-working and events.

The co-working space is organized into three environments with varying degrees of interactivity. These environments are articulated by a large furniture wall that opens on both sides and acts as a spatial filter.
The first environment, located at the entrance, is designed to host face-to-face interactions and small workshops among members. Social interaction is facilitated by the proximity of shared amenities such as the kitchen and bathroom.

The second environment supports focused individual work and small-group collaboration.
The third environment is the most intimate and overlooks the second one from above, offering a quieter and more protected workspace. The event space is conceived as a spatial landscape that supports informal interaction before, during, and after events. The space is organized around a front bar located at the entrance, while quieter meeting rooms are positioned above. These upper rooms can also function as sound and lighting control cabins during events.

Activate - Impact Hub Zurich activates previously underused urban infrastructure by transforming the interior of two viaduct arches into productive social and working environments. Through spatial articulation and programmatic differentiation, the project enables co-working, events, and informal exchange to coexist within a compact and adaptable interior. Activation occurs through use: the space is designed to support continuous occupation, interaction, and transformation over time.
