A hoodie is not just a hoodie. In a world full of stuff, smart items should be transformable, editable. They should engage the possibility to be transformed into something else. We do not need a new object. We  rather need to get rid of some of them, to reduce the complex network of things around us. Just undo it is a collection of reversible objects that could be made from a hoodie at no cost. How to videos here.

1-formelle-postazioni-convertito

RIKEA is a prototype for a micro urban structure that conceives the free market Ballon, Turin, as a system of “instant urbanization”. The project was prototyped together with IKEA and Italcementi. It consists of tiles for the recognition of the merchants’ position on the public space (Italcementi) where it is possible to install elements of the system “broder” produced by IKEA in order to support temporary shelters. The re-use of the foldable sofa “svingen” (Ikea) is adapted to realize a trolley for goods delivery. RIKEA is produced within the context of geodesign an event organized by the italian architectural magazine Abitare.

Memorial to the victims of modernity. [collaboration with Andrea Zausa]

157-2

157 is a project for a permanent urban installation conceived as memorial to the victims of modernity. 157 is the number of the workers who died of cancer due to the long exposure of PVC and CVM in the petrochemical factory in Marghera, Venice. 157 aims to represent all the victims of Modernity and recognize the social cost of modernization as historical process. 157 photovoltaic lamps will be installed into the pavement of the city’s square. As a cloud of bright spots, the lights will actually reflect the sky above the city. Such installation can replace most of the traditional lights. They consume only solar energy and do not need to be cabled to the local electricity network since they swich on automatically thanks to an embedded timer.

malthus

[with K_maps_Emanuele Bompan + Riccardo Pravettoni]

Malthus’ is a project designed for an Exhibition called FAMA/FAME (Hunger/Fame) The concept “to become famous” focuses the ambition of the artist to be accepted in the art system and, at the same time, the need to survive in everyday life. It represents symbolically all relations between life, love and success, money and the actually basic need of the human being.

Malthus’™ Products reflects on the debate about food crisis and are inspired by the observations of the British demographer Thomas Robert Malthus (1766-1834) who wrote in 1798 an Essay on the Principle of Population. In his treatise he argued that demographic growth would have led to cultivate less fertile soil, bringing to a consequential shortage of means of sustenance and a halt in economic development, due to a faster geometric growth in population, in opposition with an arithmetic growth in the availability of food. Malthus™ products are designed to redistribute and optimize resources in a world with more than six billion inhabitants; to restrain resource-generated conflicts due to over-population.

* in memory of Elisabeth Mumelter, who believed that the creation of another world was possible…
