In 2008 as acceptance speech for the Curry Stone Design Prize, I have written a document, titled the Triangular Design Manifesto. At that time of the nomination, I was finishing my Ph.D. dissertation, and I felt that if an architect has something to say, they should simply say it. I still believe that there is [...]

A nice and hilarious clip about Hotello, the pop-up office and hotel room I have designed (together with Roberto de Luca for das konzept) as a device to reactivate industrial and historical buildings was featured in the national German television ARD in a program called “Wissen vor Acht“. Great privilege. Thank you ARD, Anja and [...]

Once upon a time fifteen minutes of popularity. Then the world population grew and the minutes become three. These are the one I deserved, at least in the Swiss Television celled TeleZueri. This video was shot in my office by a very talented guy, Roland Kessler, who also did the editing, for the famous program called [...]

This article was written for Domus Design Magazine. Looking at the infographics on display at the Gestaltung Museum Zurich‘s Plastic Garbage Project exhibition, we could come to the conclusion that we are seeing the birth of a new continent, the plastic continent. At least, I presume this would be the conclusion reached by a geologist [...]

Domus 959

This article was originally published in Domus 959 / June 2012. A new discipline is afoot in our cities and slowly introducing a different, minute form of physical order that is invisible to the perpendicular eye of Google Earth. This new discipline levels steps, flattens surfaces and widens doorways, provides handles and rounds off corners. [...]

I was asked by Domus Magazine to write an architectural report for the opening of the new Kunsthalle in Zurich designed by Gigon/Guyer Architects and Atelier ww. I did it with great pleasure as it was a nice opportunity to write about the city who adopted me. Here is the article in its original context. [...]

We live in an historical time where there is the need to re-found a new avangard. We have the cultural responsibility to build a new present: make a tabula rasa and start all over again. The old cultural categories in which we used to operate do not make sense anymore. The only way to proceed [...]

This “visual essay” was just published on Condition Architecture Magazine #8. There was an open call for submission about “preparing for the unknown“. I am thinking hard about how to make the complexity of a thought clear and simple. This is the result of my experiment, a diagrammatic index. This would be my keynote for [...]

Revista EINA is a mini magazine about Ecological Culture published in Valencia, Spain. On the issue #14 they published the baby carrier form the Just Undo it collection (pp. 14-15). A hoodie is not just a hoodie. In a world full of stuff, smart items should be transformable, editable. They should engage the possibility to be transformed into something else. We do not need a new object, a new thing. Rather we need to get rid of some of them, to reduce the complex network [...]
